Between 1988 and 1997 Third Theatre toured its distinct brand of devised physical theatre. In that time the company developed a unique process of building an ensemble as an essential platform from which to create their compelling performances. Philip Knight, Third Theatre’s Artistic Director, and Tina Taylor, Third Theatre core company member, have reunited to create this website as an archive of past productions, and to document Third Theatre’s methodology of theatre making.
They believe those performance making techniques might now be offered as powerful tools to be used in the wider contexts of drama therapy, social cohesion, and community engagement.
Since their work with Third Theatre, Knight and Taylor have both had substantial international careers creating theatre in a wide variety of social contexts. They believe that in this digital age the safe and egalitarian space for deep communication offered by the Third Theatre Method is more important than ever.
